Kelly M.

I was driving down the highway when traffic ahead slowed quickly and I came to a stop. I looked in my rear-view mirror and saw the driver behind me had his head down. He was not looking ahead. He crashed into the back of my car. The impact was huge. My car was destroyed, my seat broke and I was pinned under my dash as a result. I was pushed into the truck in front of me. The driver that struck me was on his phone minutes before the impact, texting, and at the time he struck me was playing with his radio he says.

I was 23 at the time of the collision, had just started a new job and was planning on starting my own business. I haven’t been able to work since the collision. I have chronic pain and had to have hip surgery in the years that followed. I am seeing a counselor for ongoing pain and psychological issues since the collision. My life has completely changed. I have attempted suicide due to my unrelenting pain. No song on the radio or text on a phone can ever be this important.
