When my husband and I were stopped for traffic, another driver hit us from behind at a speed so great that it bent the rims of tires which were in the back of our vehicle and flew forward, hitting the front seats.  I suffered significant whiplash injuries to my neck, lower back and hips.  The other driver was cited for Inattention for following too close.  It was apparent to everyone that he had been texting and didn’t look up in time to see that we had stopped.  There were no skid marks left on the road and no sound of tires skidding, so clearly no attempt to brake before impact.

A year later, I’m still suffering the effects of the crash–in addition to the pain, my weeks are filled up with physiotherapy appointments and I’ve stopped doing my usual leisure pursuits.  Meanwhile, the other driver continues on with his life unaffected.
